Psychodynamic Supervision
I enjoy supporting psychologists who are interested in working relationally, with a focus on psychodynamic psychotherapy.
I offer supervision to psychologists at various stages of their careers, with a particular interest in working with early-career psychologists and registrars. My goal is to help you develop your own professional self, and support you in growing into the clinician you wish to become.
A space for inquiry
While supervision must at times take on a pragmatic or practical focus, my primary aim is to offer a space where we can think together about the deeper aspects of your clinical work.
I encourage supervisees to move beyond surface-level dialogue and interventions to consider the complex, internal world of the patient, and the therapeutic dyad. This includes:
Listening for what is not being explicitly said, and exploring the unconscious dynamics present in the consulting room.
Observing the thoughts and feelings that arise within you during sessions, and using these responses as a source of information about the patient’s internal world, and how they relate to others.
Thinking carefully about how the therapeutic frame is established, maintained, and challenged, and exploring what these fluctuations may mean for the therapy.
I appreciate that each psychologist comes to supervision with a different level of familiarity with this way of working. I meet you where you are, offering a space that supports your learning, while encouraging professional autonomy.
Whether you are experienced in this approach or are just beginning to explore analytic thinking, I offer a reflective space to process the emotional impact of the work, and to encourage a deeper, more sustainable clinical practice.
